Drawing on marketing expertise honed during her years in the private sector at such high-profile companies as American Express, Kathryn Papp has helped numerous organizations, associations, and foundations in fields as diverse as science and global finance enhance their public profiles, attain their goals, and expand their influence. She has used her extraordinary ability to conceptualize across disciplines and divisions to create campaigns and programs that resonate with and motivate partners, stakeholders, and target audiences, and that consistently meet or exceed goals. Kathryn has created and managed campaigns for launching new projects, elevating an organization’s global presence, fund-raising, and attaining specific targets. She has an uncanny ability to identify the most appropriate people from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to build effective teams that surpass expectations. She has helped nonprofits position themselves for growth, expand their public image, and attract funding. Sensitive and attuned to change, she can quickly identify and successfully address emerging issues that could become significant obstacles to the progress of a program.
Adept at forging advantageous partnerships for organizations, Kathryn developed proposals for the World Environment Center and U.S. State Department, and provided strategy and framework for SEED to partner with international corporations and NGOs. As a long-term consultant for the International and National Centers for Missing and Exploited Children, she crafted strategy to expand a relationship with and secure funding from The Hague. While working with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Kathryn recruited and chaired an expert, multidisciplinary, international review board. Her work with AAAS was capped by an invitation from Nobel laureate Elinor Ostrom to present at the Center for the Study of Institutions. She worked with the World Wildlife Fund (US) to strengthen its image, stabilize membership, and guide a campaign that netted substantial income. In 2010, Kathryn helped the Bellona Foundation, a Norwegian nonprofit that focuses on climate change, establish a presence in America. She identified the focus and keynote speakers for the National Council for Science and the Environment’s 2009 conference on the green economy. Kathryn conducted a performance evaluation for the World Bank’s global forestry projects.
Kathryn was part of the American Express team that developed and launched key core services for the card group and travel-related services. At Merrill Lynch & Co. she developed and introduced a groundbreaking product, and was recruited to recreate it for a rival firm.
Kathryn has traveled widely and her observations, inspirations, and experiences are reflected in her novel approaches to projects and winning strategies. Most recently she also has dedicated herself to saving the waterfront in Old Town Alexandria, her hometown.
